Meet The Doctor
Dr. Melissa Aylworth
The first thing I want you to know about me is how grateful I am to be here in Traverse City, serving the wonderful community of Old Mission Peninsula. It’s a privilege to care for you and your family.
I grew up in Hudsonville, just outside of Grand Rapids. I met my husband, Craig, at a high school dance, and 12 years later I finally convinced him to marry me. I earned my first degree at Michigan State University. If you’re not a Spartan, don’t worry—I’ll still see you at my practice (though I may feel just a little sad for you!).
Before becoming a dentist, I worked as a Registered Nurse for 13 years. In 2008, I graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Shortly after, with a newborn in tow, my husband and I moved to Bellaire, MI, where I began practicing as an associate dentist. Four years later, in October 2012, I took the leap and purchased Old Mission Dentistry—one of the best professional decisions I’ve ever made.
My husband and I live here on the peninsula with our two boys, Mason and Max, who attend Old Mission Peninsula School. Outside of dentistry, I love traveling and camping. I do my best to enjoy winter outdoors (though I can’t say I last long!), but in the summer you’ll usually find me happiest on the water under clear, sunny skies.
